Graveyard

Here is another one from the cemetery in Yosemite Valley. Down at the bottom it says 'buried by his friend. a.c. black' I wonder, were they life long best friends who when they were 5 promised they would come to Yosemite together to climb El Capitan and then he fell and then his friend buried him and had to go back and tell his best friend'ss wife that he had passed. In the middle it says 'may his soul rest in peace' I have no doubt that there is a heaven, but can you imagine how hard it would be to live in peace if you watched your friend die. The 'what ifs' that would follow.
When I climbed Half Dome last month, I was really conscience of the fact that statistically, someone dies on this rock every year. I really didn't want it to be me. I can't imagine ending a once in a lifetime adventure by burring a friend. So now that I have depressed you, here is the grave.

Hmmm, these gravestones really do make you wonder what the story is behind them. Thanks for sharing this and getting me thinking.

Nice emotion, I wonder why his friend buried him in stead of his family. Thanks for making me wonder. :)
